SERVICE RECORD
LT Ernest “TOIBS” Calling earned his callsign before he ever left the runway. On his first flight with the Wet Boys, he lined up, received takeoff clearance, and opened the throttle. He had barely inched forward when an AIM-120, courtesy of squadron legend Salty, ended the flight. The laughter lasted considerably longer than the sortie.
Since then, he's become the squadron's favorite target for practical jokes and the first choice for every shit detail. Nobody is entirely sure what to make of him yet. His instincts in the cockpit are sharp, but his technical skills need serious work. He knows it, and he's hell-bent on closing that gap.
He takes most of the ribbing in stride, even when it gets harsh. Trust has to be earned, and he intends to earn it. The Canadian jokes, however, are wearing thin. He's from Detroit, damn it. Salty and ESSP are still debating whether to put rims on his Viper or issue him a “combat flannel” flight suit. Neither has asked his opinion.
He doesn't talk much about the life that brought him here. He's looking for a place to start over, learn his aircraft, and prove he belongs. Whatever doubts the squadron has about him, one thing is already clear: from wake-up until the job is done, the dude works.
